Effective date: July 31, 2026
This policy describes how Wird ("the app," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects your information. It's written to match exactly what the app currently does — nothing more, nothing speculative.
Wird is developed by Feras Elsherif. If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at bus.arab.galaxy@gmail.com.
Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address (or, if you use Sign in with Apple, the identifier Apple provides) to create and secure your account.
Profile information. You choose a permanent username and a display name during setup. You may optionally upload a profile photo, which is stored in our file storage provider (Supabase Storage). You can set a preferred reciter and translation, a daily reading goal, and a notification time.
Reading activity. We store which page of the Quran you're on, how many pages you've completed in total, how many times you've completed the whole Quran, and a daily log of which page you read and whether you listened to the audio recitation that day.
Optional private notes. If you write a personal reflection note after a reading session, it's stored privately and is never shown to other users.
Social information. If you add friends by username, we store that connection (and its status: pending, accepted, or blocked) so the app can show your friends list and a friends-scoped leaderboard. We do not access your device contacts.
App usage time. We track how much time you spend actively using the app each day, in whole seconds, to award points and determine whether you've met the daily 5-minute goal. This is measured only while the app is open and in the foreground.
Points and streaks. We keep a running history of every point you've earned (and why — e.g. a page read, a minute in the app, a streak milestone) and your current/longest reading, friend, and login streaks.
Push notification token. If you allow notifications, we store a device token (provided by Apple/Google via Expo's push service) so we can send you a reminder if you haven't met your daily goal, or notify you when someone sends you a friend request.
We do not collect: payment information (the app has no purchases), precise location, or your device contacts.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising — the app has no ads or ad SDKs.
Wird is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at bus.arab.galaxy@gmail.com and we'll delete it.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is removed as described above. Some anonymized or aggregated data (e.g. total app-wide reading statistics) may be retained after deletion, but it cannot be linked back to you.
We rely on Supabase's infrastructure, which includes encryption in transit and at rest, and row-level security policies that ensure you can only read or modify your own data (with the narrow exception of information other users need to see for the social features to work, like your username, display name, and streak counts).
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
